The first shots in the war between Nitro and Thunder are officially fired tonight - in War Games! Lance Storm faces Steve Corino's enforcer C.W. Anderson, Randy Savage defends his legacy from Kevin Nash, and the violent encounters between Raven and Vampiro take a calmer turn as they meet in a double referee match. All this and more, live in front of a packed stadium for Fall Brawl 2001! Catch it below the break!
1. WCW Cruiserweight Championship: Milano Collection AT defeated Human Suplex Machine in 10:12 by debuting a new submission - the dazzling Paradise Lock.
2. Chris Benoit & Jim Neidhart defeated DDP & Simon Diamond and First in Flight (Billy Kidman & Shane Helms) in 8:27 to become the number one contenders for the tag team championships, following a Canadian Crossface to Kidman.
3. Carl Ouellet defeated John Tenta in 8:03 after Jack Victory interfered to help Ouellet secure the win. Early in the match, Ouellet wrestled honorably, but began to get more underhanded when Tenta responded with aggression and refused to join Corino's group.
4. Adam Castle defeated British Bulldog in 9:43 after he countered an attempted top-rope powerslam through tables into an avalanche bulldog.
5. Heenan Family (Curt Hennig, Scott Hall & Scorched Earth [Brian Adams & Bryan Clark]) defeated First Family (Scott Norton, The Barbarian, & Peak Physique [Lex Luger & Sid Vicious]) in 6:20 when Adams pinned Norton following the Trial By Fire - him and Clark's trademark chokeslam. The loss means that the First Family must immediately face each other.
6. Peak Physique (Lex Luger & Sid Vicious) defeated Scott Norton & The Barbarian in 4:10 after Lex locked Barbarian in the Torture Rack. Due to the loss, Norton & Barbarian must leave WCW.
8. Abyss defeated Mike Awesome in a no disqualifications match after 11:06 by hitting Mike Awesome with a two-handed chokeslam onto concrete. In a real disappointment, the two had bad chemistry, making the match perform well below expectations.
9. Lance Storm defeated C.W. Anderson in 12:05 with the Canadian Maple Leaf. Thankfully, the two had good chemistry and were able to put on a good match.
10. WCW United States Championship: Ricky Steamboat defeated Tajiri in 7:32 with a flying karate chop to defend the US title. (81)
11. Vampiro defeated Raven in 9:16 by disqualification, when Raven, after toying with Vampiro throughout the match, began to savagely punch and kick at Vampiro. Both referees weren't able to pull Raven off, and the rest of the staff had to come out from the back.
12. Randy Savage defeated Kevin Nash in 7:27 with the diving elbow drop. Savage had an off night here.
13. Team Flair (Ric Flair, Rob Van Dam, Dwayne Johnson, Mark Henry, & Steve Austin) defeated Team Bischoff (Scott Steiner, Sting, Mark Jindrak, Sean O'Haire, and Kanyon) in 29:43 when Dwayne Johnson forced Sting to tap out to his own move, the Scorpion Deathlock. O'Haire & Jindrak were kept limited to not over-expose them, as they definitely weren't ready for the opportunity but could still be covered up to not take away from the match. With the victory, it's official - Nitro will be coming to Mondays, and Flair will get the first choices in the draft!
